Explore Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a treatment that uses a medical scalpel to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and removes fine facial hair known as "peach fuzz". Derma planning also allows skin care products to penetrate deeper, making them more effective.  Find dermaplaning now in Puyallup, WA.

What is dermaplaning and does it hurt?

Dermaplaning is a type of physical exfoliation where a surgical blade is used to glide over the top of the skin removing dead skin cells and vellus hair. It can help improve skin texture, reduce superficial pigmentation, improve product absorption and creates a beautiful canvas for makeup application. Dermaplaning is not advised for clients who have sensitive skin or active and cystic acne.

No, dermaplaning does not hurt.

Am I a good candidate?

The ideal candidate for a dermaplane has dry, rough, aging, or uneven skin tone. It can help reduce the appearance of shallow acne scars, fine lines and superficial hyperpigmentation. You are also an ideal candidate if you'd like to rid your face of vellus hair.

3

Who is not a good candidate for Dermaplaning?

You are not a good candidate for dermaplaning if you are experiencing inflamed acne lesions or have a sunburn. Your esthetician will perform a thorough intake to assure there are no contraindications to your treatment.

4

Is the treatment safe?

This treatment is extremely safe when performed by a licensed and trained professional. There are no more risks than when you shave your legs. There is also no downtime associated with this procedure.

5

Will it make the hair on my face grow back darker?

One of the most common misconceptions is that your hair will grow back thicker when shaved. It will not. There are two types of hair that grow on the body. Vellus and terminal. The soft and fine vellus hair will always grow back at the same rate and have the same texture. Hormones play the only role in the diffrence between a vellus and terminal hair. for example, PCOS and the thick facial hair that appears.

6

How long is the treatment? How often can I get it done?

Dermaplaning will take anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes and can be performed every 3 to 4 weeks. The treatment removes approximately 21 days worth of dead skin cells and it's important to let your skin repeat its natural cycle before removing it again.

7

Can I add any other treatments to my dermaplane?

Yes! There are a number of add on treatments you can receive at the time of your dermaplane such as PCA Skin Sensi peel, Detox Pore Treatment and Enzymatic Treatment. By removing the first layer of dead skin cells with a dermaplane your skin is now prepared for the deepest penetration of any add on service. Together they will promote new skin growth and target problems such as aging, sun spots, environmental damage and comedones.
